14 Best Law of Attraction & Manifestation Books to Read in 2023

I was first introduced to books about manifesting and the Law of Attraction by my leadership coach ten years ago. I thought I’d hired him to teach me how to become more successful in my business by becoming a better leader. What I didn’t realize at the time was that his coaching program was based on the same fundamentals taught by manifestation experts: you are the creator of your life and you create when you are fully living in the present moment. Master that concept and you’ll have success not only in business but in all areas of your life.

While I read a lot of books about maximizing my potential and becoming a better leader in my coaching program, the two that stood out were the Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz and the Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. Neither is marketed as a manifestation book, yet both present concepts that are key to any successful manifesting practice. And from there my curiosity grew…first to what this whole crazy concept was, then onto practical “how-to manifest” books, and finally to all of the original texts from which the modern day manifestation mania sprouted.

When I started out on my journey years ago, I had a hard time finding any reliable source of recommended books about manifesting. Mostly, it was just a crapshoot Google or Amazon search, and I stumbled on many of my favorites accidentally. Below I share the seven books about manifesting and the Law of Attraction that have been the most useful and influential to me.

And before we get started, if you’re curious about what it means to manifest, I have a post that helps break it down.

Cover image of The Power of Now by Ekhart Tolle1. The Power of Now: a Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment, by Ekhart Tolle

“You attract and manifest whatever corresponds to your inner state.”

The idea of living in the Now is a fundamental element of meditation. It also sits at the heart of teachings by some of the biggest leaders in the mindfulness and manifestation industry today. Dr. Joe Dispenza talks of the “generous present moment” – the sweet spot that exists between the “familiar past and the predictable future” in which you can create extraordinary experiences in your life. In The Power of Now, Ekhart Tolle shows us that living in the present, not dictated by thoughts of the past or worries about the future, can bring true joy and freedom.

If I had to choose one “Bible of Mindfulness,” this would be it. There are so many good, simple lessons in this book presented in a deeply profound and meaningful way:  be present, become aware of your thoughts, learn to master your emotions, don’t try to change people, practice compassion and acceptance, surrender to the flow of life, problems are an illusion of the mind.

In a follow up to The Power of Now, Tolle outlines his belief that humanity is on the brink of a major shift in consciousness in A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose. He suggests this shift will create a “new earth” in which individuals can experience a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Oprah calls A New Earth “A wake-up call for the entire planet…it helps us to stop creating our own suffering and obsessing over the past and what the future might be, and to put ourselves in the now.”

Cover image of Ask and it is Given by Jerry and Esther Hicks2. Ask and It Is Given, by Esther and Jerry Hicks

“If you have the ability to imagine it, or even think about it, this Universe has the ability and the resources to deliver it fully unto you.”

Written by Jerry and Ester Hicks, the book is supposedly the teachings of Abraham, a “nonphysical intelligence” that speaks through Esther. While the premise behind this book may be hard to swallow, if you can read with an open mind, Ask and It Is Given is, in my opinion, the mother of all “how to” manifest books, the ultimate explanation of the Law of Attraction and its power. And as Louise Hay (bestselling author of You Can Heal Your Life) says, its value lies in the 22 different powerful processes Abraham gives us to achieve our goals.

Regardless of whether you buy in to where the teachings come from, this book is often considered one of (if not the) best Law of Attraction books, and it offers many practical techniques for up-leveling your life by learning to match the vibrational energy of what you desire.

Cover of Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill3. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

“Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”

Based on Hill’s research into the lives of successful individuals, including Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford, and Thomas Edison among others, Think and Grow Rich focuses on the power of positive thinking and the role it plays in shaping our lives and experiences.

Hill argues that our thoughts and beliefs influence our actions, and that success in life is not necessarily determined by our circumstances, but rather by our mindset and how we choose to respond to those circumstances. Or more to the point, our subconscious mind creates our reality.

Published in 1937, Think and Grow Rich is one of the original manifestation classics and is the book Bob Proctor’s teachings, Rhonda Bryne’s The Secret, and many other Law of Attraction and manifestation books are based on. Not necessarily a quick or easy read, it’s a great book and required reading for any serious student of manifestation.

Cover of Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra4. The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success: A Practical Guide to the Fulfillment of Your Dreams by Deepak Chopra

“The source of all creation is pure consciousness…pure potentiality seeking expression from the unmanifest to the manifest.”

In The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, Deepak Chopra outlines seven universal laws that govern happiness and success. The first spiritual law is the Law of Pure Potentiality, the idea that we have access to a field of infinite possibilities and abundance, which can be access through these seven laws.

Each short chapter lays out one of the seven spiritual principles and provides specifics for how to apply it to your life. Chopra offers a new definition of success: when we understand our true nature and learn to live in harmony with natural law, a sense of well-being, good health, fulfilling relationships, and material abundance spring forth easily and effortlessly. All success comes from within, and we can achieve it by accessing and cultivating our internal sense of intuition, imagination, creativity, and intention.

A New York Times bestselling author, Deepak Chopra has been described as one of the most influential spiritual leaders of our time. This beautiful little book is a joy to read and concisely captures and distills down Chopra’s essential teaching.

Cover of the Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz5. The Four Agreements: a Practical Guide to Personal Freedom, by Don Miguel Ruiz

“You need a very strong will in order to adopt the Four Agreements – but if you can begin to live your life with these agreements, the transformation in your life will be amazing…Instead of living in a dream of hell, you will be creating a new dream – your personal dream of heaven.”

While not a manifestation book per se, the ability to identify and subsequently release fear and self-limiting thoughts is a key piece of the manifestation process. According to Ruiz, in order to free yourself from these constraints, you must make four specific agreements with yourself: Be impeccable with your word, Don’t take anything personally, Don’t make assumptions, and Always do your best.

Based on ancient Toltec wisdom, this short read offers a powerful code of conduct that can rapidly transform your life, offering a new experience of freedom, true happiness, and love. What I like most about this book is that the agreements sound simple and obvious but, when put into practice, are profoundly effective

Cover of Becoming Supernatural by Dr. Joe Dispenza6. Becoming Supernatural: How Common People Are Doing the Uncommon, by Dr. Joe Dispenza

“If you want to experience the supernatural in your own life – by healing your body, creating new opportunities you could never have imagined before, and having transcendent, mystical experiences – you first need to master the concept of the present moment: the eternal now.”

Full disclosure, I am a huge Joe Dispenza fan. While none of the information he presents is new (most of it can be found in the other books on this list), the way he teaches and the research behind it is intriguing and exciting. Unlike some of the more spiritually-aligned books on the subject, Dispenza combines the fields of quantum physics, neuroscience, brain chemistry, biology, and genetics to show what is truly possible if we can learn to surrender to the present moment. His scientific approach utilizes a team of researchers at his massive retreats to analyze and document the actual changes in participants’ physiology during meditation.

In Becoming Supernatural, Dispenza details how we can intentionally change our brain chemistry to initiate profoundly mystical transcendental experiences; and how, if we do this enough times, we can learn to intentionally create a healthier body, a more expansive mind, and greater access to the realms of vibrational energy from which to create a future of unlimited potential.

Cover of the Silva Mind Control Method by Jose Silva7. The Silva Mind Control Method, by Jose Silva

“If you spur your imagination with belief, desire and expectancy, and train it to visualize your goals so that you see, feel, hear, taste and touch them, you will get what you want.”

Mind control and self-hypnosis sound like scary parlor tricks that deserve no place in a mindfulness practice, but surprisingly they are at the root of many modern manifestation teachers’ processes. Developed in the 1960s, the Silva Method introduced the concept of alpha and theta brain wave levels (the ideal levels from which to manifest) and trained people to how to enter an enhanced state of awareness and mental functioning. Even before meditation gained popularity, he taught tens of millions of students how to use meditation and hypnosis to harness their extrasensory perception (ESP) powers. This book breaks the process down, step by step.

While closer to guided visualization and self-hypnosis, Silva’s method differs from more traditional styles of meditation; however, I find it is an extraordinarily powerful tool for manifestation.

Cover of Make it Happen by Jordanna Levin8. Make it Happen: Manifest the Life of Your Dreams, by Jordanna Levin

“The Manifestation Equation isn’t a mystical mantra or magic spell, it’s a self-empowerment tool that, when used correctly, enables you to create anything you damn well want.”

Make it Happen is hands down the best entry-level “how to” manifest book I’ve read about the subject. A journalist and podcaster, Jordanna Levin breaks down a complicated topic in a descriptive, easy-to-understand way. And she’s funny! It’s a completely enjoyable, witty read that starts with what manifestation is, her theory on how to make it work for you, and then dives into specifics like how to manifest money, love, and a dream career. This is the book I recommend to anyone new to manifesting, but it’s a fun read even for old hats.

Cover of The Source by Tara Stewart9. The Source: The Secrets of the Universe, the Science of the Brain, by Dr. Tara Stewart

“When you allow your brain to be conscious of and focus on what you want in life, the raised awareness that results will work in your favor to automatically bring opportunities into your life. It’s not magic – it’s just that you are able to see the possibilities to move forward with your dreams in a way your brain was hiding from you previously.”

Written by a former neuroscientist and psychiatric doctor, Dr. Stewart not only explains what manifesting is, she presents scientific evidence that it actually works. Blending science and spirituality, the Source combines lessons in neuroscience and behavioral psychology with anecdotes and first hand accounts to demonstrate how the powerful tools of manifestation are more than simply New Age woo.

The book is broken into four parts – the science behind the Law of Attraction, how to change your brain, how to harness the power of your brain, and exercises to put these lessons into practice. By changing how we think, we can fundamentally change how our brain functions, thus creating balance, harmony, and, ultimately, the life we dream.

While the Source is another easy-to-read, “entry level” book about manifesting, its appeal is in Dr. Stewart’s straightforward approach to the subject. For example, rather than claiming manifestation works by attracting comic vibrations that bring our desires to life, she argues that it’s our ability to tap into our intuition (a melding of our brain’s thoughts and our limbic system’s emotions) that makes us more perceptive of and ready to act on opportunities that present themselves.

Cover of Good Vibes Good Life by Vex King10. Good Vibes, Good Life: How Self-Love is the Key to Unlocking Your Greatness by Vex King

“Change the way you think, feel, speak and act, and you begin to change your world.”

Good Vibes, Good Life focuses on using self-love to create a happier, more fulfilling life. King argues that self-love is not just a feel-good emotion, but a crucial foundation for success and happiness.

King encourages readers to practice self-care, overcome toxic energy, and prioritize well-being through positive changes and lifestyle habits such as mindfulness and meditation. He teaches the basic manifestation techniques such as changing beliefs, releasing negative thoughts and emotions, and allowing universal flow. And while there is nothing new or groundbreaking here, he does so in an honest, charming voice.

Cover of How the Secret Changed My Life by Rhonda Byrne11. How The Secret Changed My Life: Real People. Real Stories by Rhonda Byrne

The concept of manifestation as a practice came roaring into popularity in 2006 with the release of the movie The Secret. The film and subsequent book by Rhonda Byrne introduced the concept of the Law of Attraction to the general public, attracting famous followers and making “manifesting” a household word.

Since that time, Bryne has created an empire of bestselling books built on the original success of Secret, but one of my favorites in the series is How the Secret Changed My Life, a compilation of real life stories from readers who completely transformed their lives with the Law of Attraction. The stories are inspiring and serve as encouragement that all this manifestation stuff might be more than simple new age woo.

Cover of Super Attractor by Gabrielle Bernstein12. Super Attractor: Methods for Manifesting a Life Beyond Your Wildest Dreams by Gabrielle Bernstein

“In order to truly live as a Super Attractor, we must accept that good things can come easily.”

Called a “next-generation thought leader” by Oprah Winfrey, Gabrielle Bernstein’s Super Attractor teaches the Law of Attraction by presenting the exact steps for “living in alignment with the Universe and manifesting your greatest self.” The book is written with a spiritual bent and claims to be a manifesto for making a connection with a higher power and claiming your desires with confidence, thus marrying your spiritual life with your daily life.

Cover of Dear Universe by Sarah Prout13. Dear Universe: 200 Mini-Meditations for Instant Manifestations by Sarah Prout

“Whatever you want is on the other side of fear.”

I found Sarah Prout during the dark days of COVID while looking for something fun and uplifting to change up the monotony of lockdown. Her 21 Day Manifestation Challenge turned me on to some of the most simple, fun, and effective manifestation techniques.

This pretty and charming book contains 100 meditations to rise above fear, followed by 100 meditations to embrace love. Each meditation is centered on an emotion (jealous, judged, creative, inquisitive) and an accompanying meditation to release or embrace it.

Prout recently released an accompanying Dear Universe Manifestation Journal, complete with gold gilded pages, instructions for manifesting, and daily prompts for connection and reflection.

Cover of Infinite Possibilities by Mikey Dooley14. Infinite Possibilities: the Art of Living Your Dreams by Mike Dooley

“You are ready. You are divine. You are powerful, unlimited, and eternal. You are invincible. You are sublime. You are infinite, worthy, and so deserving.”

Mike Dooley is creator of “Notes from the Universe” and one of the teachers featured in The Secret. Infinite Possibilities argues that we create our own reality, our own fate, and our own luck. Each of us is filled with infinite possibilities, and there is nothing we can’t do, can’t have, and can’t be.
