How to Use the Law of Attraction Scripting Method to Manifest

Law of Attraction Scripting is a manifestation technique in which you write a detailed description of your desired reality as if it has already happened. It takes advantage of the fact your subconscious mind does not know the difference between what is your present truth and what you are imagining to be your future. By creating a story filled with vivid imagery and emotions, you can essentially trick your subconscious mind into believing that you are already living in your desired reality. And once your subconscious mind (which unconsciously controls 95% of your life) is successfully rewired, it drives you as if the story you’ve told yourself is the actual reality you are living in the present moment.

Scripting is one of the many manifestation techniques described by Esther and Jerry (Abraham) Hicks in their book, Ask and It Is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires, one of the foundational books about the Law of Attraction (and at the top of my list of best manifestation books to read). Abraham Hicks describes Scripting as a way to “tell the Universe the way you want it to be. If there is something you want that has not come to fruition, then Scripting is a good way to speed it up. Scripting will help you break your habit of talking about things as they are and will help you begin talking about how you would like things to be.”

When done correctly, scripting can be a powerful tool for manifesting the dream life you desire. Like similar Law of Attraction techniques, scripting is based on the idea that by aligning your thoughts, emotions, and beliefs with a vision of your future self, you will raise your vibration to a level that attracts that vision into your life. It is considered a great way to manifest success and abundance, or a specific goal such as your dream job, a new car, weight loss, or a soulmate.

The Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction is one of the 12 Universal Laws of spirituality, and it teaches that like attracts like, or more specifically, our thoughts and feelings govern what we bring into our lives.

Proponents of the Law of Attraction point to quantum physics as proof. The idea is that all matter in the physical universe is actually energy vibrating at various frequencies. And just as physical matter is vibrating, so are our thoughts. Thoughts are waves of energy, similar to the waves that your cell phone receives or the radio frequency your FM stereo picks up. You can’t see a cell signal, but you know it exists because you use your phone every day. Similarly, just because you can’t visibly see thoughts as waves of energy, doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

Everything in the universe, including our thoughts, is vibrating at a specific frequency. The Law of Attraction states that like vibrations attract the same vibrations; thus, by raising the vibration of your thoughts (and more importantly your emotions) to the same level as what you desire, you will attract it into your life.

The Role of the Subconscious Mind

Even if you don’t fully believe that raising your vibration is the key to redesigning your future life, perhaps it is easier to accept how extremely important the role of the subconscious mind is in creating our reality. It is commonly held that your subconscious mind controls 95 percent of your life. This means that you are only consciously creating, or in control of, a tiny portion of how your life plays out.

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” – Carl Jung

Think of your conscious mind as that voice in your head, the thoughts you hear and tell yourself. On the other hand, your subconscious mind controls all of the automatic actions that occur throughout the day – from breathing and digestion to driving your car to work without needing to recall the route. However, it’s the subconscious mind that also stores everything we’ve been told or told ourselves about who we are – essentially it is the keeper of our stories, the creator of our beliefs.

For example, if you have always believed that rich people became wealthy through underhanded means, you will very likely unconsciously sabotage your own efforts to become rich in order to avoid being seen as nefarious. The world is created by your thoughts, so if you want to change your world, you must change your thoughts.

In other words, you create your own reality. You are the director of the movie that is your life, and if you don’t like how the story is unfolding, you have the power to rewrite the script.

How the Scripting Manifestation Method Can Change Your Reality

Scripting works in a similar way as positive affirmations or manifestation mantras, by communicating with our subconscious mind and directing it in a new direction. Through affirmations, we introduce positive thoughts into our subconscious (“because of my new job, money flows to me effortlessly”) that replace the negative thoughts dragging us down (“I live paycheck to paycheck’). And when used consistently over time, the subconscious begins to see the affirmation as its truth, even if the affirmation isn’t entirely true yet.

Because our subconscious doesn’t know the difference between the present and the future, it doesn’t know the difference between the stories we’ve told ourselves and the reality we are experiencing at any moment. So we simply need to replace our old, limiting thoughts with a new, positive vision of the future. Curious what your limiting beliefs are? Use my Identify & Release Limiting Thoughts Worksheet to identify the negative thoughts holding you back.

Get Clear on What You Desire

In addition to rewiring your subconscious, scripting helps you get clear on exactly what you desire for your life, because it forces you to imagine, and then write out, the future you envision in very specific detail.

Knowing what you want to manifest is the first step in the three-step manifestation process:

DEFINE – RELEASE – CREATE

You must first define what it is you want before you can ask the universe to send it to you. The more detailed and precise the better. If you desire a new house, the universe needs to know whether to send you a turn-of-the-century Victorian or a Craftsman bungalow. Want a new job? You should know explicitly the salary, title, and responsibilities that you desire.

If this is your first time thinking about what it is you truly desire, my Design Your Life worksheet is a great tool to get your creative, self-aware juices flowing. Manifestation journaling or a vision board are two other powerful techniques to get clear on your different desires, or for additional inspiration, check out the “Wouldn’t it Be Fun If…” exercise below.

Wouldn’t it Be Fun if…

One of my favorite ways to clear on what it is I truly desire is to play the “Wouldn’t It Be Fun/Nice if…” game. The beauty of this powerful technique is that it removes any attachment to the outcome and allows you to dream big without worrying about the actual details of how you will achieve the goal.

According to Abraham Hicks, when you say “I want this thing that I don’t have yet” you are activating the vibration of the absence of your desire, and nothing will change. But if you reframe your statement to “Wouldn’t it be nice/fun if my desire would come to me,” you naturally elicit a more positive response. Additionally, by making it a breezy game, you avoid the temptation to overthink the process of how this desire will come into your life.

For example, if you think “I want to be a guest on Oprah” your mind will automatically shut you down with all the reasons it won’t happen: “But why on earth would you ever be on Oprah, you are not famous, you are a boring accountant, and you live in Alaska…”

On the other hand, if you start listing out all the wild ideas that just sound fun to you, you’ll find it’s a lot easier to write them down without second guessing them. Children do this all the time (“I want to be a princess when I grow up; I want to invent a spaceship that lives on the Sun”) because their subconscious mind hasn’t yet created roadblocks to their dreams.

So, simply start listing out all your big, fun, wild dreams as if you are a starry-eyed five year old in a world where anything is possible. For example:

“Wouldn’t it be fun if I made a million dollars in one month”
“Wouldn’t it be fun if I starred in a feature film”
“Wouldn’t it be fun if I met my soul mate”
“Wouldn’t it be fun if I wrote a New York Times bestseller”
“Wouldn’t it be fun if I could travel around the world for a year”

You get the idea.

After you’ve made your list, select some of your favorites, or revise with even bigger things, and journal about what your life would look like if they all came true.

Put the Law of Attraction Scripting Method into Practice

Once you feel like you have a good sense of what you want to manifest, close your eyes and picture yourself living your best life, filled with abundance, accomplishment, and perfect health. You are living with your ideal partner in your dream home. You spend your days doing exactly what you’ve always wanted to do, whether it is discovering a cure for cancer, writing a best-selling novel, traveling the world with your best friend, climbing Mt. Everest, or simply baking cookies with your grandchildren. You feel peaceful, grateful, and fulfilled. You are looking forward to future adventures, but you feel grateful and content where you are now.

Suddenly the phone rings and it is a magazine editor who wants to write a feature story about you. What is the magazine? What is the article about?

Pretend you are the article’s author. Draft the opening paragraph or two, keeping the following items in mind:

  • The most important thing is to write in the past or present tense, as if everything has already come to fruition
  • Avoid using the future tense
  • Include as much detail as possible
  • Avoid any negative or limiting language (“She did not…”)
  • Don’t take the process too seriously

When you are finished writing, read your script aloud or visualize yourself experiencing the desired outcome. Sink into the good feelings associated with achieving your goal. Repeat this process regularly, focusing on the positive emotions and feelings associated with your desired outcome.

Law of Attraction Scripting Examples

Below is some inspiration for your first script; adapt it as necessary to fit your unique vision.

[Your name] is a famous American novelist and screenwriter who is regarded as one of the most important and influential writers of the 20th century. Over the course of her career, she has written many acclaimed novels and is widely recognized for her contributions to literature and culture. Several of her books have been adapted to the big screen, including one that received an Academy Award. She has also won numerous literary awards, including the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize in Literature and is a beloved figure to many readers and writers around the world.

[Your name] splits her time between her recently remodeled home on the shores of Kauai and her 40-acre ranch at the base of the Rocky Mountains. She enjoys hiking, gardening, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She donates much of her fortune to animal welfare causes and sits on the board of the American Humane Society. She and her partner recently completed an around the world tour, which included trekking in Nepal, an African safari, and sailing the Galapagos.

Alternatively, if you are feeling ambitious, create a scripting journal daily routine in which you write one script each day as if it were a diary entry. Read through these manifestation scripts and imagine the positive feelings and gratitude you have for this new life of yours.

Dear Diary,

Today was another whirlwind day on set here in Paris, where I am filming my upcoming blockbuster movie. It’s a demanding role, but I love the challenge of bringing this character to life on the big screen. Tomorrow I head to Los Angeles in preparation for the Oscars on Saturday. I have an interview with People Magazine on Wednesday, a date with that handsome banker I met at last week’s gala on Thursday, and a final fitting at Alexander McQueen on Friday. Then it’s off to Tahiti for some much needed R&R.

Until tomorrow, with love and gratitude…

Save the scripts you write and you will be delighted to refer back to them in the future as your desires begin to manifest.

The Power of the Written Word

Hopefully these manifestation examples will inspire you to give this Law of Attraction exercise a try. At the end of the day, raising your vibration by rewiring your subconscious is the best way to bring your big dream into reality.

Abraham Hicks writes “the purpose of this process is to practice the feeling of the life you would like to live. The Universe does not know or care if what you are vibrating is in response to something you are living or in response to something you are imagining – in either case the universe will deliver it to you.”

Best of luck on your scripting journey!
