Welcoming Abundance: Sacred Spaces & Rituals for Manifesting

As in most areas of life, good habits and consistency lead to good results. It is easier to stick with a program if you enjoy both the practice of doing it and the space you do it in. Below are some tips on how to create a sacred space and daily rituals for manifesting more love, wealth, and abundance into your life. If you are new to manifesting, check out my post to learn more about What it Means to Manifest.

Create a Sacred Space

We all know we should work out, but it’s going to be ten times harder to motivate, if our gym is in a stinky, rundown basement 30 minutes across town in traffic. Unlike weight training, the process of manifesting is relatively easy – it only requires a little dedication and consistency. Set yourself up for success right from the start by making your daily manifesting practice something you look forward to.

Whether you journal, meditate, or use visualization for your daily manifestation process, the first step is to select a space where you enjoy sitting for at least 15 minutes a day.

Determine Where to Locate Your Sacred Space

Your sacred space should be quiet, comfortable, and private. Find a room or space with a door you can close, if there is a chance you’ll be interrupted. Hang a whiteboard, chalkboard, or other fun sign on the closed door alerting family members that you are working (“Mom is working. Go ask Dad”).

Your space should separate from where you work, pay bills, or complete other daily tasks (this work should feel like a retreat, not a chore). If free space is limited, get creative and consider:

  • a small desk in quiet corner with a pretty screen or curtain separating you from the rest of the room
  • a favorite chair, floor pillow, or even your bed with a lap desk or tv tray to write on
  • installing a shelf or creating a meditation chamber in an unused closet

Fill Your Space with Meaningful Items

Once you have set up the basics of your space (desk, chair, privacy curtain), think about what makes a space sacred to you. Maybe it is filled with photos of people and places you love. Maybe it is next to a window with a beautiful view. Or perhaps it is decorated in bright, vibrant colors. By consciously creating a physical environment that reflects your loves, desires, and intentions, your sacred space will support you on your manifesting journey.

Think about appealing to all of your senses. Add a soft, fuzzy pillow; light incense or diffuse essential oils; play soft, meditative music; pour a glass of wine or cup of herbal tea.

Add a small plant. In addition to their purifying benefits, plants can create good feng shui. The right plant, positioned correctly can attract abundance and repel negative energy. Aloe Vera and Bamboo are thought to bring luck and prosperity. And Jasmine plants, believed to bring romance and strengthen relationships, are the perfect choice if you are trying to manifest love.

Add personal items like photos or drawings from your children. Select several items that create uplifting, emotional feelings of love and gratitude

Create an Altar

If you would like to go one step further in creating your sacred space, consider setting up an altar or “sacred collection” inside your space – a dedicated area where you assemble a small collection of powerful tools to aid you in your manifesting journey.

Place only items that really speak to you, and as your collection grows, you will begin to assemble a physical representation of you and your inner strength, creating a powerful flow of energy.

Begin by finding a small space or piece of furniture that will serve as the base of your altar. It doesn’t need to be conventional or complicated. Simple ideas include a small tray or plate, a tiny end table (or outgrown child’s table), or even a single shelf on a bookcase.

Collect items that have deep personal meaning and are close to your heart. Ideas include candles, photos, favorite books, souvenirs, crystals, little figurines or statues, prayer beads, items of jewelry, etc. Don’t go out and buy stuff for your altar; rather, select items you already own and add items to your altar as you come across them.

Finally, allow your altar and sacred space to change as you change. Remove items that are no longer meaningful to your life.

Create a Sacred Ritual for Manifesting

Once you have a sacred space, it is time to create your personal ritual for manifesting. It is best to set aside a dedicated time each day for your practice. You want this time to feel special, a time that is all about you.

Pick a time of day when you generally will be uninterrupted for a minimum of 15 minutes. Ideally, it will be at the same time each day, so that you can simply block off that time on your calendar and create a habit of it. Perhaps it’s 15 minutes before work or the kids wake up or late in the evening after your partner has gone to bed.

Get in the mood

Brew yourself a cup of herbal tea or pour yourself a glass of wine. Turn off your phone, computer, and any other digital distractions. Close the door or hang up your “Do No Disturb” sign. Open or draw the shades, depending on the time of day and to create the atmosphere you work best in.

Once you have settled in, close your eyes and relax your facial muscles, allowing your jaw to fall open slightly. Let your shoulders drop and your arms fall to your sides. Allow your hands to loosen so that there are spaces between your fingers. Uncross your legs or ankles and plant your feet on the floor. Feel your thighs sink into your chair, letting your legs fall comfortably apart. Feel your shins and calves become heavier and your feet become rooted with the earth.

Practice the Centering Breathing exercise

Place your hands just beneath your navel so you can feel the gentle rise and fall of your belly as you breathe. Follow the steps below.

  • Breathe in slowly, feeling your belly push your hands out, away from your body. Say to yourself “I am” as you fill your diaphragm with air.
  • Pause for a count of three
  • Breathe out, while saying “grateful and abundant” to yourself
  • Pause for a count of three
  • Repeat slowly two or three more times

Use Your Ritual for Manifesting to Bring Abundance

Finally, with your eyes still closed, feel your entire body relax into the support of the chair. Imagine your heart opening up, full of love, ready to accept all the joy and abundance that is about to come to you. Tell the universe, “I am grateful for all that is. I am grateful for all that will be.” Open your eyes.

Now that you have a sacred space and ritual for manifesting, you are now ready to begin your abundance meditation or manifestation practice. Not sure where to start? This post will give you background, examples, methods and techniques for manifesting. Go forth and create the life you dream!
